Our team was commisioned to provide engineering design for the construction of the NextDC – S1 DataCentre in Macquarie Park. The project was significant with engineering challenges similar to those of a hospital. The structure is innovative, breaking the mould of a traditional single floor the building incorporates a free air cooling system throughout the five story building.

NextDC’s data centre at 4 Eden Park Drive, Macquarie Park is located in close proximity to Sydney’s CBD. NextDC – S1 is a five storey structure of 5,600m2 in total.

The large building footprint of 120m in length positioned on a tight site, created access and construction issues that required considered engineering problem solving methodology.

It’s an impressive five-storeys with capacity for up to 2,800 racks across 5,600sqm of technical space to government and enterprise customers.  S1 already hosts a number of local and major international corporate businesses and service providers who run their cloud platforms from S1, forming an active ecosystem in the vendor and carrier neutral facility.
