Project Description

Horsley Park is now home to REC Equine Specialists’ new state-of-the-art equine veterinary practice.

The 20,000+ sqm project was delivered over a 10-month period by FDC Construction in partnership with Team2 Architects.

“The REC Equine Specialists team has a long history in the industry, with over 70 years in practice. To accommodate their continued growth, they made the decision to relocate from Randwick and develop a purpose-designed and built facility in Horsley Park. The project, delivered earlier this year, allows them to offer unparalleled equine services and facilities,” said Peter Blood, Project Manager.

The project involved the demolition of an existing single dwelling and the subsequent transformation of the site into the advanced equine facility that it is today.

Providing a 24-hour, 7-days a week emergency service for clients and referring veterinarians, the new facility features:

  • Laboratories
  • Multiple surgery rooms
  • Ambulatory and dispensary rooms
  • Knockdown and recovery rooms
  • 32 stables
  • Trotting areas

The new facility was officially opened in April 2021, with the launch attended by The Hon. Stuart Ayres MP along with colleagues and friends of the practice.

FDC were proud to deliver the facility alongside project partners Team2 Architects, Sparks + Partners Consulting Engineers and Griffiths Structural Engineers.
